Text 23 Apr 3 notes A few questions which Scott answered for Long Legs, Long Arms Japanese distro

1. Please tell me about this band.
for example. how many member? when formed? influence? attitude? political message?

Prelude To The Hunt are a 4 piece (soon to be 5 piece) band from Aberdeen, Scotland. We formed in March 2010 with the aim of playing metallic, crust fuelled hardcore akin to Cursed, Rise and Fall, The Hope Conspiracy, Converge, Trap Them, His Hero Is Gone etc. After solidifying a line up, things moved very quickly, and we were in the studio recording what would be our first release within the first 6 months of being a band, then the shows started not too long after that.
As far as political message goes, we don’t really have any. We write about things which interest us as a band, things that affect us on a much more personal level. We feel that is much truer representation of what we are all about.

2. Is this stuff DEMO CDR? Will you plan some release?

Our first release is “First Rites”. We self-released the CD in August 2011.

We also run our own label called Bitter North Records with the help of a few really great, and like minded individuals. It is based throughout Scotland, as most the team are spread all over. The aim is to help get better music into circulation in Scotland by running a pretty awesome distro which is regularly stocked and re-stocked, help good bands, who we love, release their music easier on various formats in various countries with the help of other like minded labels and individuals. We also put on live shows for bands we love who need a hand from time to time. This works very well because we are spread throughout Scotland, so generally speaking, we can cover most of, if not all of Scotland’s major cities.

So far, we have one release under our belts, which was the Filthpact/Debacle split 7”.
We have a free download compilation surfacing shortly which features around 30 tracks by most of the bands we love in the UK right now. That is in it’s final stages of being finished, so keep an eye out for that.

After that, we have a few more projects coming together, in the form of more releases and more live shows.

You can keep up to date with what Bitter North Records are doing at the following places:
www.facebook.com/bitternorthrecords
www.bitternorthrecords.tumblr.com

These are the two main ones which get updated the most, so start following us to learn of all of the new things we have coming.

You can buy our releases as well as a few of our distro items from www.bitternorthrecords.bigcartel.com

3. can I distro it to everyone as sampler(or very cheap) ?

With the “First Rites” ep, you can do what you want with it, as you see fit. All that really matters is that people hear it, so give it away free, sell it super cheap, it is entirely up to you.

People can also download it for absolutely nothing fromwww.preludetothehunt.bandcamp.com

I don’t know about Scotish Hardcore scene.
But I want to know it, your local music scene!

Scotland’s hardcore scene is probably bigger now than it ever has been. That said, it is also more divided than it ever has been. There are a lot of smaller scenes which make up the whole. It is a pretty exciting thing to be a part of, but there is a lot of bullshit that goes around with it. We just try to stick to what we do, and aim to keep doing it well. We have some fantastic bands that we love and who we think are worthy of your attention, so check them out. I will just list a bunch for you, not all of them are “hardcore” per se, but the have the ethics down!

5.please tell me the bands that you were influenced or you respect in your local scene.

We grew up playing in a band called We Shall Be Blessed, we were a technical death metal/grindcore band, and we grew up playing the DIY circuit that was created by some really awesome promoters and bands. Namely Arkade/Dizzy Storm promotions. They pretty much showed us in our younger years how rewarding the DIY route could be. It was around this time that we met and played alongside bands like Allergo, Archives, Friday Night Gunfight, Clearer The Sky and The Black Chain. Really, really great time to grow up playing music.

7.please tell me your favorite band and label in your local scene.

Hands down, the most deserving band to be named in a section like this is Filthpact. They work super hard, tour a lot and just generally are a totally awesome bunch of guys! Make sure you check them out!

I know mogwai,Archives. but many japanese don’t know well about Scotish hardcorescene.
If you want to tell more things to japanese listener, please feel free.

hahaha! You have no idea how much Archives would laugh if they knew they were mentioned alongside Mogwai. Very cool though! Very, very cool! There isn’t too much I can write here that I haven’t already mentioned above. The bands mentioned above are our personal favourites, and all are Scottish, they represent what Scotland is all about, and how diverse, and interesting a DIY/punk/hardcore scene can be if everyone is of the same mind set.

Thank you for all of the questions!
